My articles have appeared in many publications including
Martha Stewart Weddings, Women’s Health, InStyle, Harper’s Bazaar, Country Home, and
W and on the Internet for MSN/AOL and ivillage. I have written about design of all sorts, real estate, art, collecting, education, travel, careers, health and fitness, and people.
Locally I am frequent contributor to
The Philadelphia Inquirer and have written for
Philadelphia Magazine, Philadelphia Style, New Jersey Life, Bucks Living and
Our House magazine.
Prior to the launch of my freelance career in 1998, I spent a decade working in Manhattan, first at the corporate buying offices of Macy’s and then in the design room of Michael Kors,Inc. where I learned first hand about how collections were designed, promoted, and sold. While there I earned an M.A. in Journalism at New York University and took my first job in publishing at
Self magazine as a copywriter followed by a fashion editorial post with
W magazine and
Women’s Wear Daily (WWD). I spent six years there writing about the latest fashion and retail trends, critiquing runway shows, and profiling designers.
After leaving New York I found beautiful Bucks County, PA with my family. Once here I helped launch
Philadelphia Style magazine (1998), wrote fashion columns for
The Philadelphia Inquirer (1999-2000), launched a Sunday home magazine for the same publication (2003), all while continuing to write for national magazines. I am a regular contributor to the Inquirer to this day.
I have also done public relations writing for clients like Ralph Lauren, Max Mara, and home accessories designer Mary Jane McCarty. In 2004 I began teaching journalism courses at Temple University in Philadelphia and The College of New Jersey in Ewing, NJ. When I am not writing, I continue to fix up the 1948 clapboard Colonial I share with my husband, three children and two dogs.
